Andrew Smith McColl was born in Mallaig Scotland in 1928. He enlisted in the Royal Air Force in 1946 and was a Radar Operator on a peacekeeping mission in Germany until 1948. He immigrated to Canada, arriving in Lethbridge on December 31, 1948. Andrew met Sarah McPherson in Lethbridge, they got married in 1951 and had three daughters. He spent his 35 year career working for Alberta Government Telephones. He became Pipe Major of the Lethbridge Legion Pipe Band in 1954. Andrew often piped at Remembrance Day Ceremonies and at Robbie Burns dinners. He was a Legion member for about 60 years. In retirement, Andrew and Sarah travelled extensively and doted on their six grandchildren. Andrew passed away in 2012.

Banner applications for 2023 are closed. Applications for 2024 are now being accepted. They must be received no later than June 30th, 2024. Only 90 additional (over and above the 2023 banners) will be displayed in the lead up to the 2024 Remembrance Day so sponsorships will again be available on a first come first served basis.
