In 1941 Andy Alm left Iron Springs, Alberta to join the 39th Battery Royal Canadian Artillery in Lethbridge. After basic training, he was sent to England in April 1942 where he served with the 3rd Medium Regiment. After the war he answered the call to serve again in the Korean War. He served as a Signal Sergeant in the 2nd Regiment, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. After the war Andy raised a family of three daughters. He farmed for a while and was also the postmaster in Iron Springs. Work took him to other occupations until retiring.
Throughout the years Andy had been committed to giving his all to his community and or interests whether it was with the Boy Scouts troop in Iron Spring, VASA Lodge, Pottery Guild, Korean War Veterans, the Legion, Norbridge seniors and many others.
Andy believed that one should not just be a member of a club or organization, but an active participant.
