Jean Elizabeth (Betty) Williamson Geer was born on July 11, 1920 in the Galt Hospital in Lethbridge, Alberta. Betty grew up in Lethbridge and Taber. After attending Normal School in Calgary she joined the WRENS of the Royal Canadian Navy in 1943 and served in Ottawa and Halifax until the end of World War II. Betty returned to Alberta and graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton where she received her teaching degree. Betty married David Arthur (Bud) Geer in 1947 and lived in Dawson Creek, B.C. where they raised their three children – Sherry, Shannon, and Susan. After relocating to Duncan, B.C. in 1966 Betty continued teaching until her retirement in 1980. Betty remained a life-long learner and was active with volunteer work, sailing, golf and world-wide travel. Betty passed away on October 11th, 2006.

Only 90 additional (over and above the 2023 banners) will be displayed in the lead up to the 2024 Remembrance Day so sponsorships will again be available on a first come first served basis.
