Robert Duncan was born 22 January 1942 and grew up on the family farm east of Coalhurst. He first joined the military in the Militia in Lethbridge while attending school. Immediately after completing high school, he then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1960 and was posted to the 727 Communications Squadron. Later in his career he took his commission. He attended officer training in St Jean, Quebec. Bob retired as a Captain after serving almost 28 years.
After his career, he worked for Social Services in BC. After retirement, Robert volunteered at the Kamloops food bank and later took over as the food bank manager. He ran it for a number of years until he passed away due to ill health. During his many postings with the military, he adopted two children. Peter while in Ontario then when he moved to Kamloops, BC he later adopted Adam.
