Major Dennis Jobe was originally from Kimberly, B.C. with Metis heritage. He joined the military in 1957 as a 16 year old artillery soldier apprentice. Soldier apprentices participated in a plan whereby young soldiers went to school in the mornings and took military training in the afternoons. Dennis then spent the next 35 years taking over seven years of military courses and being posted to all regions of Canada. He spent a great deal of his career employed in Europe with Canada’s only Army Nuclear capable unit, the 1st Surface to Surface Missile Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA). In total, he served three, four year tours in Europe with Canada’s NATO forces. Before being commissioned to the rank of Captain he was promoted through the ranks and became the youngest Master Warrant Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces at that time. His final tour of duty was as Commanding Officer in the rank of Major of Lethbridge’s militia unit, the 20th Independent Field Battery RCA. Dennis retired in Lethbridge and was very active in the Community both as a business person and with community groups such as the Lethbridge United Services Institute and Royal Canadian Legion. Dennis passed away on March 2nd, 2023 at the age of 8
