Charles “Doc” Dowling enlisted at 17 years of age, to join the Canadian military fighting in WW II. He served with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) in England, Belgium, Holland, and Germany during the war. When he returned to Canada Doc then served with the Fort Garry Horse. He also did a tour of duty in Germany and with the United Nations in Cyprus. After completing his 35 years of service with the Army he found a new avenue to stay connected to the military by teaching the Army Cadets at the Vimy Ridge Armoury in Lethbridge. This he did for 25 years. He was a life-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and served as the Vice-President and President of the Lethbridge Legion Branch. “Doc” passed away on January 8th, 2022.

Banner applications for 2023 are closed. Applications for 2024 are now being accepted. They must be received no later than June 30th, 2024. Only 90 additional (over and above the 2023 banners) will be displayed in the lead up to the 2024 Remembrance Day so sponsorships will again be available on a first come first served basis.
