Fred M. Myers was born December 27, 1924 in Ottawa. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942. He served on the frigate HMCS Dunver in the North Atlantic for the duration of World War II. Following his discharge he secured employment with the National Film Board (NFB). In 1951 he married the love of his life – Irene McCauley. Together they raised 3 children: Frank, Pat, and Barbara. Fred retired from the NFB in 1978 and he and his wife relocated to Belleville, Ontario. Then after a second brief stint in Ottawa, they moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to be near their daughter Pat and her family. Here they resided until Irene passed away in October 2019 and then, in March of 2020, Fred passed.

Banner applications for 2023 are closed. Applications for 2024 are now being accepted. They must be received no later than June 30th, 2024. Only 90 additional (over and above the 2023 banners) will be displayed in the lead up to the 2024 Remembrance Day so sponsorships will again be available on a first come first served basis.
