Born in England, Harry learned how to build pipe organs with his Father, Ben Sr. who was an undertaker in England, before emigrating to Lethbridge with his Brother Ben Jr. Together, Ben Jr. and Harry started Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels with the knowledge they had of undertaking from their father in England. Once WW I broke out, Harry enlisted with his brother where he served with the Canadian Forces in Europe. After The War, Harry returned to Lethbridge with his brother to continue their work as First Generation Funeral Directors and founders of Martin Brothers Chapels. Harry was a member of the Freemasons, The Elks Club, The Moose Lodge, and a long-time member of the Legion.
