Jack Fettig was born at home on April 6th, 1920 at Grassy Lake, Alberta. He was the 4th child, with 3 older and 3 younger siblings. Jack worked on the family farm until he and his younger brother, Tom enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1941. He wasn‘t able to serve overseas because of a bad knee, but was stationed in an armament supply depot in Halifax, while also doing guard duty. After the World War II he married Donna Vervalcke from Meyronne, Saskatchewan. They farmed south of Grassy Lake until 1971, at which time they moved to Lethbridge, where he worked for a contractor building houses. He was a good carpenter and was proud to have participated with many Royal Canadian Legion projects. He was a life member of the Lethbridge Legion. Jack had one son and one daughter. He passed away at the age of 101 on October 25th, 2021. He left 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
