John Alexander Findlay was born in Armada, Alberta on December 18, 1919. The family moved to Lethbridge when he was a child, where he attended Galbraith School. On June 21, 1940 he volunteered for service in World War II as a Gunner in the 6th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, Regimental Number M3258. John served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Holland and was discharged on October 24, 1945. Following the war, he was employed by Canadian Western Natural Gas and worked at the Bow Island Gas Field until 1959, and in Lethbridge, retiring in 1985. John married Eileen Jones in 1946, and they had three children, Marlene, Joanne, and David. John passed away in Lethbridge on April 29, 2003.
