John Hodgson was born 10 May 1886 in Lancashire, England. He was living in St Catherines, Ontario and was married to Clara H. Hodgson. John was a patternmaker before joining up to fight in WW I in the Infantry. He enlisted initially with the 98th Battalion in St Catherines, Ontario. Upon arrival in England, he was transferred to the 12th Battalion and shortly after that to the 75th Battalion. He was also a Bandsman while serving. John Hodgson died while assisting the wounded at Vimy Ridge April 9, 1917 at the age of 30 years, 11 months. John had been a member of the Salvation Army and this banner is being sponsored by the Lethbridge Salvation Army.
