The second eldest son of Benjamin Jr, Lester was born and raised in Lethbridge. When WWII broke out, Lester followed his older brother Derek’s footsteps and also enlisted in the war. But instead of the Army, Lester trained in Lethbridge to be a pilot eventually serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada and England as a Member of the 429 Bison Squadron during WW II. Through his fight overseas, Lester became a POW at camps in East Prussia, Poland and Germany for 14 months. At the end of the war he made it home safe to Lethbridge where he lived the rest of his life as a farmer and a mechanic.
