Lloyd John Casson was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan on October 29th, 1917. His family relocated to Nanton during the Depression when Lloyd was a teenager. He met the love of his life Ethel Wegener in Strathmore, Alberta and they were married 21 August 1937. They went on to have nine children. Lloyd enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) on Remembrance Day 1941 and became an airframe mechanic. He spent his time in the RCAF on the prairies recovering and repairing planes damaged during pilot training. He was honourably released from military duty on 26 October 1945. The family moved from Stathmore, Alberta to Commerce, Alberta in the spring of 1954 when Lloyd received a job with the Lethbridge Northern Irrigation District (LNID) as a dragline operator. Lloyd worked for the LNID from 20 April 1954 until he retired on 29 October 1982. Upon retiring he and Ethel moved to Picture Butte. Lloyd passed away 9 June 1985.
