Robert Donald Livingstone was born February 19, 1917 in Lethbridge. After graduating as a Mining Engineer from the University of Alberta, he was married and then served in the Royal Canadian Engineers 1941-45 serving in Europe. Upon returning home, he served in the local reserve unit – 33rd Field Squadron Royal Canadian Engineers, rising to be the Commanding Officer until he retired in 1960. He worked for Lethbridge Collieries, starting underground and progressing to Mine Manager and then General Manager, followed by coal mining exploration work in the Crowsnest Pass area. He also owned and operated Bridge Valley Golf Par 3 and Driving Range. He and his wife Merne had 4 children and 24 grandchildren. He passed away March 9, 2001 in Lethbridge.
