William (Bill) was born March 20, 1922. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1942 and served in active duty until the end of the war in 1945. He was part of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment. He served in Sicily, Italy and was involved in the liberation of Holland. He was wounded three times during his service. He took part in the Victory March in Berlin marching past world leaders, Churchill, Stalin and Eisenhower. Upon returning home, Bill worked for Purity Dairies (later Palm) and was the driver of the last horse drawn milk wagon before horses were replaced by trucks. Bill married Christena Russell and they had three children, Eleanor, Douglas and Nancy. They will celebrate their 74th wedding anniversary this year (2022).
