William Edwin Rooke was born April 19, 1923 in the Pollockville, Alberta area. In 1942 Bill began his training with the Army but upon completion he was recruited by the RCAF due to his marksmanship ability. Bill served overseas as a tail gunner and flew many recorded as well as numerous classified missions. He was very fortunate to not only survive his service as a gunner but also two crashes. At wars end Bill was discharged as a Flight Sergeant, and returned home. Bill, alongside his wife Mabel, began, built, and worked within their successful trucking company for 50 plus years. On April 1, 2016, at the age of 92, William Edwin Rooke passed away with his loving Daughters Terrie, Lynn & Colleen by his side. His daughter Lynn is a resident of Lethbridge. “Bill you were one of the best damn gunners to leave the station”

Banner applications for 2023 are closed. Applications for 2024 are now being accepted. They must be received no later than June 30th, 2024. Only 90 additional (over and above the 2023 banners) will be displayed in the lead up to the 2024 Remembrance Day so sponsorships will again be available on a first come first served basis.
